The Blessing of the Fleet, is a special mass held at Star of the Sea Catholic Church is followed by a colourful procession by the Italian community through the streets of Tuncurry to the waterfront carrying a statue of Madonna Dei Martiri, patroness of fishermen.
In 2008, this wonderful ritual celebrates its 45th year. This spectacular procession is a must see on the long weekend. Includes NSW Department of Primary Industries Trophy for Best Decorated Fishing Boat.
