Why go there

Located 30 km south of Tumut, this small town is known for its orchards, and is one of the major fruit-producing areas in NSW. Fresh stonefruit, berries, pears, apples and cherries are some of the true delights of the area.

History

Explorers Hume and Hovell passed through the area in 1824. Batlow supplied provisions to the early goldminers in the 1850s. The orchards were so well established that the first coolrooms in NSW were built here in 1923.
