Calendar of Events
As part of the Centenary celebrations, Tourism NSW has planned a series of activities to celebrate 100 years of travel and tourism to NSW and look to the future.
Below are a few of the activities which are presently occurring. Watch this space for up and coming opportunities to take part in the 100 years of Tourism in New South Wales celebrations.
- Accredited Visitor Information Centre Competition
- January – June 2006, throughout New South Wales
- Accredited Visitor Information Centres across the state are holding a display competition that will highlight and bring to life the history of the tourism industry in New South Wales. This is an opportunity for local communities to work with their Visitor Information Centre’s in creating a display that represents the history of tourism in their town and surrounding region. - Museum of Sydney on the site of first Government House Display
- February – June 2006, Sydney
- A small display showcasing the past 100 years of tourism in New South Wales from February to June 2006 is now open at the Museum of Sydney on the site of first Government House. This exhibition traces the story of tourism, from steam locomotion to the jet age, and from passive recreational pursuit to backpacking and ecotourism over the past 100 years. - Online Monthly Competition
- November 2005 – May 2006
- A monthly competition is up and running offering a chance to experience some of New South Wales’s finest attractions. You can enter as many times as you like and there is a new prize up for grabs each month. www.visitnsw.com.au/100years
